What Are You Looking For?
1. Why should I Donate/Recycle my used clothes?
The textile industry has one of the biggest carbon footprints and consumes a huge amount of water during the production process. By giving your used clothes a second life, you will help conserve precious resources and make our planet a better place to live in.
2. Why should I choose Bombay Recycling Concern as my recycling partner?
Bombay Recycling Concern (BRC) is a registered social enterprise which provides waste management services in the textiles sector. BRC is the only organisation which works directly with communities who have been traditionally associated with the recycling of clothes. Women and men from the Devipujak (earlier known as Waghri) community are trained and empowered to work as our pick-up and clothes processing associates.
3. What happens to my used clothes?
Used clothes are segregated into three categories based on their condition. Clothes in the lowest category are used as a wipers & machine cleaner. Clothes in the other two categories are sanitized, washed and mended, if necessary before they can be reused. These clothes are generally sold in rural and semi-urban markets at extremely cheap prices (generally below Rs 50 per item).
4. What kind of clothes can we accept and reuse?
BRC accepts all kinds of clothes which are in a condition to be reused. It accepts shirts, trousers, jeans, T-shirts, kurtis, sarees, children wear and babywear. You can also donate bedsheets, blankets and linen. Please note that BRC cannot accept undergarments and torn/soiled/unusable clothes.
